Patch Notes January 16: Server Stability and Combat Balancing

The Hytale team continues their aggressive patching schedule with today’s update, focusing on the most requested fixes from the community.

Server Improvements

After the chaotic launch week, today’s patch brings significant backend changes:

  • Queue Times Reduced: Average wait times down from 15 minutes to under 3 minutes
  • Rubber-banding Fix: Addressed the desync issues in high-population zones
  • Friend List Sync: Fixed the bug where friends appeared offline incorrectly
  • World Save Reliability: Eliminated the rare data loss bug affecting Zone 2 builds

Combat Balance Changes

The dev team has been closely monitoring combat data:

Nerfed

  • Void Steel Scythe: Attack speed reduced by 15% (still top-tier, just less dominant)
  • Lightning Bolt Spell: Cooldown increased from 3s to 5s

Buffed

  • Shield Block: Now negates 75% damage (up from 60%)
  • Copper Dagger: Base damage increased to make early game smoother
  • Healing Potions: Crafting requirements reduced

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed crash when entering Zone 3 from specific coordinates
  • Resolved texture flickering on AMD GPUs
  • Fixed Kweebec taming progress resetting on logout
  • Addressed the “infinite falling” bug in certain dungeons

Known Issues

The team acknowledges these issues are still being worked on:

  • Occasional audio desync during boss fights
  • Some players cannot join servers in the EU region
